Hazard Mitigation Plan

Hazard Mitigation Plan

Overview

As mandated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the City of Cerritos formally adopted its updated Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) in April 2023. The City of Cerritos’ HMP was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on April 18, 2023.

The HMP was last updated in 2016 and previously in 2004. The HMP is a Federally mandated hazard mitigation document, which provides the framework for the ongoing identification and implementation of hazard mitigation strategies developed in the City. The overall goal of the Hazard Mitigation Plan is to reduce the potential for damage to critical assets from natural and man-made hazards.
