Crossing Guards

Cerritos Crossing Guard Program

The Cerritos Crossing Guards are an important part of the community and serve a vital role in the lives of children who walk or bicycle to school. Crossing Guards help children safely cross the street at key locations and remind drivers of the presence of pedestrians. Crossing Guards assist children in developing safe crossing habits and inform them of potential hazards that exist at school crossings.

The City of Cerritos' Crossing Guard program consists of 26 part-time Crossing Guards and one part-time Pedestrian Safety Coordinator who is responsible for managing the program. The Crossing Guards support nine elementary schools and two middle schools that are part of the ABC Unified School District and one elementary school that is part of the Bellflower School District, but located in the City of Cerritos.
